Collaboration with academic partners
The ELSA Lab AI for Health Equity explores how AI can be developed in a fair and inclusive way, with specific attention to underrepresented groups in healthcare. The University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Utrecht University (UU) are the largest academic partners within this four-year initiative.
ITSLanguage contributes to this project as part of the consortium. Within KAT, we apply insights regarding legal and ethical aspects of AI. What this concretely means for KAT in the coming years:
- Deepening KAT as an analysis tool
- Researching MDR certification for diagnostic or treatment advice
- Integration with screening, testing, or training applications
- Adding at least four new languages to KAT
- Integration of speech technology for automatic sound recognition, where the speech therapist only needs to correct when necessary
We have worked for years with speech therapists and linguists and are proud to now also have scientific collaboration for KAT. Do you know KAT and want to contribute ideas about future applications? Get in touch.
Collaboration with the Royal Auris Group
The Royal Auris Group has been using KAT for some time and has extended its initial five-year license agreement to seven years. Auris not only uses KAT, but their speech therapists and linguists also contribute ideas for further development and innovation opportunities. We value Auris's trust in this joint direction.
Collaboration with speech therapy education programs
In cooperation with universities of applied sciences, we are exploring how KAT can be integrated into the third-year curriculum of speech therapy programs.
KAT free for students and educators
Students and educators can use KAT free of charge. Submit your institutional email address through our contact form to request access.
New features in KAT (June 2025)
These developments have been completed and are currently being tested by members of the advisory group. They will be available in KAT by June:
- Free trial period extended to 4 months: Two months proved too short for independent practitioners who use the tool only occasionally
- Integrated e-learning: Easier to use and better extensible to other languages
- Improved layout of news and support items
- Modified assimilation indication: The ‘+’ symbol remains available, but the automatic listing in the Processes tab has been disabled to offer more flexibility for cross-sentence assimilation
- PDF export: In addition to XLS, export to PDF is now possible, with the option to select specific sheets
Requests from the field
We received requests from users for additional functionality. Do you recognize these needs or have additions? Let us know:
- Test-taking function: Display an image linked to the word list on a second device (e.g., tablet or phone)
- Treatment function: A simplified analysis/summary that can be easily shared with parents
